Yarns On Collie

What else do I need for whelping?

My two purebred Border Collies have successfully tied 8 times and based on first tie should have pups on or around April 6th.
I need to know if I have all the essential whelping items in order, or if I’ve forgotten anything…

Whelping box
towels
absorbent pads
Iodine
digital scale
puppy supplement
bottle feeder
dental floss (to tie off cords)
Joe lubricant (for stuck puppies)
Syringe
Heating lamp
Hemostat
scissors
colored yarn (to tie around necks for identification purposes)
Thermometer
Quick stop (for excessive bleeding)
Calcium tabs (for mama)
the vet’s phone # (for emergencies).
pre-ordered vaccinations and syringes
……

Any help is appreciated. I have approx. 2 months before pups are due and want to ensure the healthiest, problematic free whelping I can. I love my doggies!!!

I am a breeder of Chocolate Labradors. Make sure you have pigrails in your whelping box to prevent the mother from laying on the puppy and smothering it. It is a very serious problem and very common. If you don’t know what a pig rail is, do a web search for Dura Whelp, it is a whelping box that in on the market that has pig rail and you can see how it is made. You are going to need a heating pad to put the puppies on after the mother cleans it up. Put the pup on the pad that is covered with a towel. Keep the pad on low. Only put them on the pad while mother is whelping another puppy. You will need worming medicine and Albon to treat them for Coccidia when they are 2 weeks old. Treat them if they need it or not. You can order Albon online.
