Cost reduction in packaging?

In our company we use 5 ply carton box for packaging 12 cobs of mulifilament yarn
Specifications:
1.Carton box 5 ply for packing M.S. cops -12 nos
2.Size ( length – 490 mm, breadth – 365 mm, height – 440 mm),
3.Bursting strength – 20 to 25 kg / sq. cm.
4. Partition – 3 ply 120 gsm – 1 no – 12 rooms
5. Punch plate – 5 ply -120gsm – 1 no (5 ply pad with hole)
6. Plain pad – 5 ply 120 gsm – 1 no
7. Net weight for 12 cobs is 24 kg and gross weight is 30kg.
These boxes are used for domestic dispatch.
So our intension to reduce the cost of the carton box without affecting the specifications.
So please suggest factors and alternatives to be considered for cost reduction.
1. Whether 3 ply carton boxes are suitable?
2. Which flute meduim is best suitable for 3 ply?
3. What type of packing can be made?
4. Whether 3ply carton box can produce bursting strength (20 – 25 kg/sq cm)?
Your best bet is to got to the carton box supplier and ask there.
They have a motivation to retain your business and can best show their products that meet your needs. However, in addition to the current supplier, bring in at least two additional suppliers to demonstrate their products.
With that information, you should be able to make an appropriate decision.
