how can i find a match to the cyprus mohair yard i already own to buy more online?
i bought a few scanes at a cute knit shop at a store where i used to live .. but since moving to chicago, i haven’t been able to find a knit shop that has the same yarn. any idea where i could find yarn that matches the one i already have? it’s cyprus mohiar color 111 dye lot no 02 it’s a mixture of teal, magenta, orange and blue. 
If that’s a brand, I’m not familiar with it. Check the label for the manufacturer’s name. You can probably find the manufacturer online and contact them directly to see if they have any. Be aware that if you purchased this yarn more than a few months ago, your chances of finding a matching dye lot are slim to none.
Your very best bet would be to contact the store from which you bought what you have. They may yet have some odd skeins laying around in that lot.
The last option would be to search the stashes on Ravelry and see if someone by some miracle has it in their stash and would be willing to sell or swap it.
What you need to do when you select yarn for a project is buy one skein more than you think you will need. It’s called the insurance skein. When you finish the project, if the insurance skein is unused and still in new condition, you can return it in exchange for yarn for your next project. Or stash it and do some stash buster project with it later. It helps to avoid the heartbreak of mis-matched dye lots later on.
