Would my carry-on cause a problem?
I’m a percussionist, and I’ll be flying tomorrow to an audition. I would feel much more comfortable if my stickbag was one of my carry-ons, but I’m not sure that security would be cool with that. The weight and size won’t be a problem, but I’m scared the contents might, especially with security these days. I have more than twenty pairs of sticks/mallets, most of them are yarn-covered, though I have a pair with rubber tips, and a pair with really really hard plastic tips, as well as a few pairs of sticks, a metronome, and a practice pad.
Oh, and I’ll be flying from Providence, RI and home on Sunday from Cleveland.
I am an airline reservations Supervisor, one of the people who the agents will ask when they don’t know the answer to the question. If I were at work taking the call with this question, I would advise you to check the bag. I know it’s scary getting to the destination and finding your bag didn’t make it. It’s better than getting arrested at security and not making the flight. Since you’re flying tomorrow, the only advice I have now is check-in and try to clear security WAY early, maybe three hours in advance, to work all the details out at the airport.
