How to get my cat to play?
I recently adopted a 6 month old female kitten from the animal shelter. After a week of fighting off a bad cold, she finally has the energy to play (and get into trouble!) The only problem is that she simply fallows the toys around, but doesnt seem to understand she is supposed to bat and play with it. The only thing she aggressivly plays with is yarn and unfortunetely my computer cords (bad kitty!) Is there a way to train her to play with her toys?
The best thing, I think you could do, is to experiment with toys. I’ve gone through i don’t know how many toys that my 2 cats either love or hate. If she likes string-like things there are those little fishing rod toys. She is also from the shelter so it may take her longer to get the concept. Its neat that you got one from the shelter. They are usually the better animals to get. My cat loves the catnip as well as little bottle caps or the balls with the bells in the middle. Also try a paper bag, if you get them, and try to play with her that way. I hope this helps on building your relationship with your new cat. Good Luck!
