Can’t get darning needle through two layers of fleece?
My first quilting project is a fleece baby blanket. I’m trying to do a blanket stitch around the edge with yarn, but I’m having difficulty getting the darning needle through two layers of fleece. Do I have to somehow poke holes all around the edge first? If so, what is the easiest way to do that? The holes only need to be big enough for the needle to go through.
Take a little time with each stitch and try to work the point of the needle between the fibers of the fleece. Fleece is often very tight, so wiggle the needle to make its own hole, and then slide it through. I know that sounds silly, but try it. I have done blanket stitch edges on fleece blankets before. That is how I did it. My speed rivaled that of a wounded turtle, but it worked and the result was worth my time.
