What does ‘worsted weight yarn’ mean?
I have got a crochet beanie hat pattern and it says I need ‘worsted weight’ yarn… so i’m not sure what thickness of wool I need to buy for this pattern…

Thanks so much for your answers, i appreciate it! I need to use a 10mm hook for this pattern apparantly.. its a chunky beanie hat, then I need to change down to an 8mm so hopefully it will work as long as I can manage to buy the correct sort of yarn!
I found that worsted weight is nearest to Aran weight in the UK, most american patterns that call for worsted when you look at needle sizes they are roughly the same size as aran.
