What do you call someone following a vegan diet but who still wears wool and leather?
The only leather thing I own is my wallet, and I’ve been through that on a previous post.
I don’t think I have any wool.
So, what would you call that person?
I’d call them a strict vegetarian because veganism, according the the definition given by the man who invented the word is
‘a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude — as far as is possible and practical — all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment.’
I didn’t see your other post; if you owned the wallet before you went vegan then you are no less a vegan for using it until it wears out and then replacing it with a vegan alternative – that’s what most new vegans do.
And it’s still a good idea to tell caterers, restaurants, people whose homes you’re eating in etc that you’re a vegan; that way you stand a chance of getting a meal that’s acceptable to you, rather than one containing dairy, eggs – or even fish
