Ideas for enhancing the looks of a bass guitar?
I have a metallic red Ibanez Soundgear SR 300DX bass with chrome hardware, rosewood fretboard, and a maple neck with pearl inlays. I love the thing to death in every way.
I was wondering what I could do to customize/personalize it, or even just anything else to visually make it stand out. I have a thick, black, suede strap on it. The strap I used to use had a faux wool seatbelt cover slid onto it which used to be my trademark, but it wont fit over the new strap.
However, I am not willing to slather random stickers all over it. I havent put any stickers at all. I am desiring a rather clean, sophisticated look, and although guitars such as the one my bandmate has look cool with stickers, its just not for me.
Looked the bass up.. and.. as is its a great looking bass. I prefer black hardware on mine as well, and all my basses have that. (Yamaha RBX 374, Peavey Cirrus 5 string, Peavey Cirrus 6 string) My most recent purchase was a Fender Jazz Fretless, (in black) and immediately went to Black Gotah tuners, (their better than the stock tuners Fender puts on), and swaped the stock bridge out with a Leo Quan Badass ll , in black. Also, black volume and tone knobs, as well as black straplocks.
Dont blame you for not wanting to slather stickers all over it. Best way I feel to customize and personalize a bass… let your playing and gracious attitude be the one thing that lets the bass and yourself stand out, as after all.. its the drums and bass thats the meat and potatoes of the band!!
