How can i re-shape a bowler hat?
Hi, I’m trying to see if this is possible.
I recently tried to colour a bowler hat (100% wool) with a fabric paint and failed because it is black. I then decided to remove dye / bleach the hat to remove all the colour. This worked fine, and i now have a very light grey which will no doubt take a fabric paint nicely. Unfortunately the bleaching left the hat very floppy and out of shape, i can re-shape nicely with steam, but how can i get the stiffness back into the wool??

The hat needs to be re blocked that is put on a mold and treated with a chemical and steamed to reshape it.
This needs to be done by a hatter as its not easy to do at home.
The chemical used in the old days sent the people in the hat trade made hences the expression “AS Mad AS A HATTER”
And remember the mad hatter in alice in wonderland.
