Why You Need a Car Coat?

Do you know what a car coat is? Do you think it is just a coat you wear in your car? Why would anyone need a separate coat just for driving?

Despite its name, a car coat is not just a piece of outerwear garment to be worn exclusively in your car, driving or otherwise, although it was originally designed for this purpose. They were initially targeted towards open-car drivers who would experience a chill in the evenings or from high-speed winds caused by fast driving. Because of its reputation for being seemingly exclusive to open-car convertible owners, car coats developed a high-class image and became an item of luxury for those wealthy enough to afford a different car coat for each of their multiple open cars.

However, a
car coat
doesn’t have the same meaning it used to, they’re just thought of as a nice coat that is feels unconstrained and relaxing. This is typically a coat that has a lot of space around the waist to allow for freedom of movement and either button or zips all the way up preventing your coat from bunching up. Women’s car coats are usually fitted slightly differently, they are fitted at the hips and widen gradually towards the hem. Another feature of car coats is that they reach past the hips all the way down to the middle of the upper leg, allowing you to stay warm.

There are several different types of fabrics that you can use when making car coats. Because car coats are mostly worn in colder seasons to enable drivers to be warm and comfortable while operating a vehicle, wool and tweed and great fabrics to use in car coats. Although leather is very warm, it is not used very often because it lacks the same flexibility as other common fabrics. A popular inner lining for car coats is silk, as it helps to trap the heat and keep you insulated. They also feature large pockets to hold keys and other smaller necessities so that one does not always have to reach over elsewhere in the car to obtain an item, a dangerous move while operating a moving vehicle.

You are no longer limited to the car when wearing a car coat thanks to all the different styles and designs available. Car coats provide a great solution to those days when it is too cold and sunny for a long trench coat yet too warm to pull out the thick winter coats. Car coats make for a great fashion statement for both men and women, especially if you cruise around in your car on a regular basis and live in a colder region.
