What’s the easiest way to clean up damaged threads?
I’m trying to remove a flywheel and I can’t get the puller on because the threads are too damaged. Is there tool that can clean this up?
I’ve never needed a puller to get a flywheel off. Once you remove the bolts it should come off with a bit of pulling and wiggling by hand. At worst you might have to put a crowbar behind it and pry slightly. Besides the threads are not in the flywheel but in the crankshaft flange behind the flywheel. Any puller you bolted there would only hold the flywheel in place. And if those threads are buggered you’re either going to have to replace the crank or helicoil it. Most auto parts stores sell helicoil kits to repair buggered threads.
