Material for blanket? Help please?
How do you know how much material you need to crochet a blanket if you dont have a pattern? I found a stitch on youtube but i cant find any pattern to make it into a blanket?
Take some of the kind of yarn you need and make a sample using that stitch.
Measure the sample – let’s say for the sake of argument that it’s 4 inches by 4 inches (16 square inches) — then unravel the sample and measure the number of yards it took to make that sample.
Then decide how big you want your blanket to be. Let’s say you want it to be 45 inches by 60 inches. 45×60 = 2700 square inches. Divide this by 16, and you get 168.75. Multiply the number of yards it took to make the sample by 168.75 and you’ll get a rough estimate of the number of yards it will take to make the blanket (round up, better to have a little left over than not enough!)

determine yardage needed to make sample
determine area of desired blanket
divide by area of sample
multiply by yardage needed to make sample
