What type of crochet hook do you prefer and why?
I mean the round ended like Boye or the kind that have flatened ends like Susan Bates?
Also do you perfer metal, plastic or wood?
I perfer Boye brand hooks. I like aluminum or steel (for thread). I learned when I was a young girl. I’ve been crocheting for over 30 years…
I like Boye because they have a round tapered end. The ones with a flat end catch too much in my work.
I did buy a set of rose wood hooks becuase they are prety. I don’t use them because they feel weird.
I just don’t ever remember so many choices as there are now. I have a few frineds wanting to learn. When I learned you just went to the store and bought a hook and there wasn’t much to it.
I use metal ones in both brands but I prefer Boye. Susan Bates hook points are sharper, their necks are longer, and the numbers run larger than those of Boye. A Boye #8 is a #9 on a Susan Bates. Because I learned to crochet resting the thread on my pointing finger, I need to be very aware of what I’m doing when using a Susan Bates hook or I can hurt my own finger…………LOL (silly, but truth!)
