whats a strong thread to use?
im going to be sewing a home made back pack. i dont really know what kind of thread to use. are there different types of thread that are stronger than others ? what would u recommend for me lol. i know the basics of sewing and am also unsure as to what type of stich to do and i asked another question bout that. i DONT have a sewing machine.
The strongest hand stitch is the backstitch; the strongest easy hand seam is the flat felled seam. I would use standard dressmaker weight polyester thread if you’re going for the felled seam (because you’ve got two lines of stitching making up the seam), and I might bump it up to topstitching weight polyester thread if you are doing only a single-stitched seam (which I hope you won’t.)
Keep your stitches small and even for best strenght… I’d try for about 8 per inch.
