Natural Hair Loss Home Remedies – How to Use Rosemary For Hair Loss?

For centuries, different people around the world have relied on herbal medicines to treat many of the common ailments afflicting humanity. And it is only recently that scientific studies point to the wisdom of using herbs and herbal extracts in developing pharmaceutical products that are effective in curing most of them.

One of the most dreaded conditions that plague men is the early onset of male pattern baldness or androgenetic alopecia. A variety of herbs for topical application and ingestion has been in use for generations to help arrest hair loss and stimulate hair growth. One of them is the Rosemary herb that, when used as a shampoo, does the job of stimulating hair follicles.

About Rosemary
Most people probably heard about the Rosemary from the famous Simon and Garfunkel song “Scarborough Fair.” But to many, it’s a flowering herb that has both medicinal and culinary benefits enjoyed over the ages. The rosemary plant ranks among the oldest and most highly regarded herb among ancients whose usefulness in treating various illness have survived to this day. It is a bushy evergreen that can grow to 6 feet tall or higher, sprouting light blue flowers and whose stiff leathery leaves are often used for medicinal purposes. It’s officially known as “rosmarinus officinalis” that is part of the mint herbal family.

Its healing properties have been harnessed since ancient times for common ailments in the body. Today, herbalists use rosemary to treat disorders related to the gall bladder and liver. Rosemary is also used as an antiseptic for treating flu, viruses and colds. Arthritis and rheumatism respond well with rosemary oils applied in body massages. What makes it a medicinal ingredient in shampoos is its ability to improve blood circulation when topically applied.

How To Make Your Own Rosemary Shampoo?
Here are the things you will need in preparing a rosemary shampoo: Rosemary plant, a large pot, a covered kettle made of glass or stainless steel, grapeseed oil, stainless strainer, glass container or jar. Making one basically involved distilling the rosemary essential oils from its leaves.

1. Either dried or fresh rosemary can be used to concoct a shampoo that can treat hair loss. All fresh herbs should be kept in a covered container and stored in a warm place.

2. Take out the Rosemary leaves and let them dry overnight in a container. Using less than dry Rosemary leaves can cause unwanted molds to grow with the oil distillate cloudy than clear.

3. Place the dried Rosemary leaves in a medium-sized kettle and add grapeseed oil to immerse al the rosemary leaves completely. Avoid using kettle made of aluminum of copper which could result in some chemical reactions with the Rosemary substances.

4. Place the medium-sized kettle inside or atop a larger pot of water. Then using a low heat setting, heat the large pot for 3 hours until the oil mix gets infused with rosemary. Don’t overheat so as not to ruin the mixture by burning the oil.

5. Pour the oil mixture from the kettle to a clean container or glass jar using a kitchen strainer to strain the mix of impurities and debris. Store the mixture in a cool dark place and let it cool overnight.

6. When showering the next day, pour some of the rosemary oil and massage onto your hair Rinse it with water and repeat as needed.
