Character Poetry
Poetry has a character all its own and there is no other writing quite like it, neither can
any other type of writing quite express the form or mask over its simple flowing rhythm and patterns of rhyme or mimic the easy way of its delivering the truth in similes and metaphors.
This is the language of the soul and may appear complicated, but in actuality, poetry has
an uncanny ability to open and awaken one’s mind and enlighten the spirit both in weight and in illumination. That is why scripture, prayers, and chants are so uplifting and full of wisdom,
idealistic and pragmatic in their nature. Like minded souls easily and readily adapt to its sway of motion, intention, and meanings.
Poetry’s ability to hold and entertain a two way communication of minds is unparalleled. It holds within its medium of interchange the whole gamut of feelings and emotions pertaining to any subject in any field and when the poet’s pen is wielded across the canvas of the page, a panorama of visions emerge.
NORMAN
Tall and gangly, like a Whooping Crane, a mean
spirited bird is he. (squeak… squawk)
Norman is his name, pensive and wide shouldered,
tall, surreal. A taxidermist
By profession. Chained by invisible bonds,vicariously to
Mother’s deceptive hold. –
“For his mother does not speak. His mother does not
walk. She has caught the rigor mortis!”
A hick-hunk man is he, mysterious enough to be
suspicious, but not in the obvious way.
However, interestingly stubborn to cause a deep stir
within the creative psyche.
Quietly vicious, an irresponsible youth, insecure and
out of touch with the reality
Of life. A psycho, much too much so, and warrants
apprehension. Delusional.
Innoxiously a debacle in a frenzied way. Truly morbid
and void; consciously insane.
FAREWELL TO ANNE
Talk about appeal.
Talk about style.
Whooo… aah! Pizzazz.
Insatiable. Embraceable.
Admired and loved from afar.
Held in the heart, in the mind.
What joy of wit, of humor,
Intelligence and rhyme.
Anne you filled a hole in the human race,
a void in the struggles of fantasy and life.
You pointed us in the direction of our fates.
Only one was chosen before all time to be you.
Bancroft! Broadway’s Anne.
Bancroft! Mel’s gold band.
