Knitting with Patons Classic Wool. Any ideas how much it will shrink down?
Hi… Im using Patons brand “Classic Wool” yarn. Its 100 % wool. I was wondering if anyone knew how much it shrinks down when you wash it to felt it. Thanks so much.
I’ve knit and crocheted 100 of items to be felted. Paton’s Classic is one of the best yarns to use for felted projects. Lots of nice colors and felts down enough you don’t see the stitches.
The best thing to do is follow a pattern. However, you can knit or crochet a swatch at least 6 inches square using the needles or hook you will use for your project. Then measure it carefully, use thread to mark an edge so after felting you know which edge was the top. Then felt that sample like you will your project. After it is felted measure again and see how much it shrank.
