Can you help with a simple crochet hat pattern?
I am a beginner at crocheting and am trying to make a simple hat. I found the pattern at the lion brand yarn site (http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/BK4K-0612011.html?noImages=)
I finished Rnd 6, but am unsure how to proceed. I see there is an asterisk for this Rnd, but i don’t fully understand what it means from my the instructions in my crocheting book.
The rest of the instructions are:
“Adult women only: Rnd 6: *1 single crochet in each of next 5 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next single crochet; repeat from * around – 35 stitches.
Work even in single crochet until 6.5 (7.5, 8.5) inches from center of crown. Fasten off; weave in ends. ”
Am i supposed to continue adding a single crochet after every 5 crochets in every row until i am done with the hat? or do i just keep doing one sc for every sc that already exists (there are currently 35). If i do this, won’t the hat be tiny? Thanks in advance for any tips.
Rnd 6 do 5 stitches then do two in the next stitch until you have total of 35 stitches in that round.
Rnd 7 and on up: work even in single!!! this says that rnd 6 was the last increase round.
If your stitches are about the same as the guage given then it should fit when you finish. But if your number of stitches is less than what is given for guage then it will fit a child.
I haven’t read that exact pattern, but have done some that are similar. If it looks like it won’t be large enough around, repeat rnd 6 about every 5 rounds or so and it should work just fine.
