Lion Brand Yarn Homespun

Suggestions on yarn brands?

I just started learning to crochet and so far, I’ve used Red Heart Soft, Lion Brand, Lion Brand Homespun, and a few varieties of Loops & Threads. As I get better I find myself wanting to work with nicer, natural, non-acrylic fabrics. Unfortunately the craft stores near me seem to only sell acrylic and there are no independent yarn stores in my area.

Also, I have no idea which brands to try, or if upgrading my yarn is even worth the money.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I am a knitter, and I feel it is definitely worth upgrading yarn, especially for those special projects. Some yarns I have used and liked are Blue Sky Alpacas, Debbie Bliss, Cascade yarns, and GGH. There is also knitpicks.com that sells yarn online for pretty good prices since you don’t have any stores near you. Baby alpaca is soft and fuzzy, I like the knit picks shine for a non-fuzzy but super soft cotton.
You can also buy yarn from other members via ravelry.com, a knit/crochet community. People post pictures of projects they’ve done, which can give you an idea on different yarns. There is also a yarn forum for people to ask questions or talk about different yarns, in case you had a question about a specific yarn.

Good luck!
