Fyberspates is a small company that is based in Wales and they focus on producing high quality yarns. The yarns are sourced from all over the world, shipped to Wales and then hand-dyed by Fyberspates. The dying process is natural and done by hand meaning there can be variation in colour between batches and a batch cannot be replicated. All of the dyes used are non-toxic and wash safe and so you should not see any fading.
Fyberspates buys its yarns from the UK, Peru, Spain and the USA and makes sure it selects companies that have a high standard of production. They will also ensure that the companies they use give their staff high employment standards to ensure they are supplying ethical wool and everyone benefits. They try to not buy yarns from countries they have not visited but sometimes this is necessary but they make this clear on the label so you are sure what you are buying.
The Fyberspates Yarns
Fyberspates offer a wide variety of different yarns that might provide you with an alternative to your current yarns to keep things interesting. Below we have put together a list of the yarns they are offering with some information of how they are composed.
1. Ethereal 4ply – as with all their yarns this comes in 100g skeins and is made up of 65% Cashmere and 35% Silk. This is a gorgeous yarn that is soft and great to knit with. It comes in a variety of colours and is 400m per skein.
2. Scrumptious Aran – this comes is 100g skeins of 165m in length. This is an amazingly soft Aran made up of 55 per cent Merino wool and 45 per cent silk. The silk in this wool gives it a lovely shine and added extra softness making your garments incredibly comfortable to wear.
3. Scrumptious Chunky – this is a lovely quick knit yarn and comes in skeins of 100g and 122m in length. It is 55 per cent Merino wool and 45 per cent silk and you will need 6mm/10US needles to work this yarn. It is a beautiful yarn that is a pleasure to knit with.
4. Scrumptious DK – this yarn comes in 100g skeins of length 200m and is made up of 55 per cent Merino wool and 45 per cent silk. This is a great double knit yarn and comes in a variety of different and vibrant colours. Again the addition of silk gives it a sheen and makes it very soft and luxurious.
5. Lace Yarns – they have a wide variety of lace yarns that can be great for more intricate products. These yarns range from 100 per cent silk to combinations of silk, merino, cashmere and angora with something for everyone. Their pure silk yarns some in 100g skeins of 3000m in lengthmaking it very delicate and lovely to work with.
