crafting help please, what is this? or how do I use it.?
I got this item in a lot of sewing/knitting stuff in an online auction, it has a center circle and five arms/loops placed evenly apart around the circle. it’s metal and very faded but I think it says gleam silk and wool winder. and a patent no.
any help would be appreciated
It sounds like a wool winder. 
Seriously, it’s a tool people would use to wrap their wool around. It’s one of the most pointless things invented for crafting, in my opinion, but there you go. I’ve seen plastic versions in the stores lately that are shaped like daisies. You just use it in the place of your fingers to start winding a ball of yarn and wind the ball around it.
