What size knitting needles should I get?
I am going to teach myself how to knit because I love to crochet. I was going to go buy a pair of needles but I have no idea how the sizes work. I always use worsted weight yarn and when I crochet I usually use a G, sometimes H, hook. What size needles would be best for me? I was thinking maybe 8, but I really have no idea.
When I crochet, I honestly never follow what the pattern says for size. I like worsted weight yarn and my G hook and use that for almost anything I do.
I typically use a G crochet hook with worsted weight yarn and 7 or 8 knitting needles with worsted weight. So yes, size 8 would probably be good for you. My first pair of knitting needles was a straight pair of 8s. But I prefer circular needles now. They are more comfortable for me to hold, and I can use them to either work back and forth or in the round. (Unlike crochet, you can’t do everything with one needle in knitting.)
