I need a knitting pattern for free to help kids in underpriveledged countries please?
Patterns in yarns of about 8 ply and the size needles required.
reply for Australia contact or online patterns that are free
How to compare yarn size to knitting needle size:
get a piece of cardboard (like a tablet back or a file folder) and use a knitting needles, dowels, whatever to punch a variety of holes *OR* use a commercial “knitting needle gage”
tie a bit of thread onto the middle of a 6″-long piece of yarn and use the thread to attempt to pull the doubled yarn through various holes
Any “snug” fit is an indication of too-small needle size. Too-small needles create overly stiff knitting and are *hard* on the wrists of the knitters … can even do permanent damage.
Experiment with various needles larger than too-small. Huge needles are sometimes used for lacy effects with average yarns.
8-ply? I’ve never had my hands on 8-ply *yarn*, thread, yes, but not yarn.
