knitting a circle??? HELP?
how can i knit a circle for the middle of a flower, i’m creating a baby blanket in the shape of a flower and am almost finished but cant figure out how to knit a circle using standard size 3.5mm needles, can anyone help me out with a pattern not too big about 2-3 inches in diameter. thanks
There are a couple of methods (double point needles, magic loop, circular needle)
The default recipe for knitting a flat circle from the center outwards is: Increase at 8 points, evenly spaced, every other row. This makes an octagon rather than a true circle, but in most knitting, this is close enough.
here’s a link to making flat circle

or
start by casting on 8 stitches (and divide over dpns or circs as you like)
row 1: * k1, m1 * rep to end
row 2 and all even rows: knit all stitches
row 3: * k2, m1 * rep to end
row 5: * k3, m1 * rep to end
row 7: * k4, m1 * rep to end
and so on, increasing by one knit stitch each odd round. What you’ll wind up with is eight sections, spiraling out into a circle (somewhat like nautilus hat )- make it however large you like.
To keep the stockinette edges from curling under, I’d finish off with 3-4 ish rows of garter or moss stitch.
