Knitting Kits For Afghans

knitting kits for afghans
What size cord do I need for knitting a afghan?

I am considering buying additional circular knitting needles in a kit like the Boye Needlemaster or Denise Interchangeable kit. But I’m curious about something. I want to start making afghans and I need to know how many inches of cord I need. It would be cheaper to buy a set of 36″ bamboo circulars on Amazon than it would be for me to buy the Needlemaster or Denise, but I know that with those kits you can custom make your cord sizes. So, would 36″ be enough for most afghans or should I go with the longer cord?

I would think 36″ is the minimum you would want. It all depends on the size of the afghan you are making; obviously, a larger afghan will need a longer needle.

I like to use 40″ for most of my work, even fingers on gloves, but you may find it easier to work with something about 60″. It all depends on the size of the yarn, and the size of afghan you are making. The interchangeable are a good investment — you will never run short then!!
