Police Crackdown on Drug peddlers and Bootleggers PDF Print E-mail

The police force has been pro-active in containing the menace of drug peddling and bootlegging in various parts of South Andaman recently. With the induction of young officers, police has shown grit and determination in booking many cases throughout the region. Manishi Chandra, Dy Sp (MA) and his team of officers has been visiting villages and also conducting Anti addiction awareness programmes in association with panchayats and local NGOs.

Bootlegging had been under control since a couple of months, but new cases of drug peddlers have been reported from various areas. Mostly they target school children. Young officers Recently, Binoj Kumar, SI Bamboo flat police station and his team had booked Sameer Shil, a wholesaler of drugs from Mathura, who had been supplying the drug to various retailers. Vikas Singh SI, Ograbraj PS had booked Sudeep Malik, another drug-peddler from Lal Pahad. Sahil Shamsudeen, SI Wimberly Gunj outpost has been in the forefront in eliminating bootlegging from his area. Many habitual offenders have been booked under Section 110 G.
