Easy Crochet Blankets Patterns

easy crochet blankets patterns
An easy pattern for knitting a blanket…?

Hi,

I was wanting to knit a blanket. I’ve previously knitted scarves and done ok with that.

What I was thinking was just do 3 or 4 super long scarves things all the same size and keeping all the blocks the same size etc and then just sew them together (i’m a bit hazy on the details about knitting them together but I can get my mum to help on that bit!!).

So, would this work? Is there anything special I need to do? I can’t crochet and knitting in a straight line is probably the limit of my talents so easy step by step help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks

Ash xx

Yes it would work, you will want to either crochet the strips toghether, or sew with a mattress stitch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqPEM48Es3c.

– But I think that a much more interesting blanket, it is knit on a diagonal – very different and decorative throw.

I hope you can cast on (only 4 stitches so method is not really important), do the knit stitch (you knit all the time in this pattern), increase by doing a yarn over (yo), decrease by knitting two stitches together (k2tog) and finally a bind off. This make a very cute square — make a small one for a wash cloth and decide if you like it before going all out for a blanket! I would suggest (strongly) that if you are going to make a blanket – that you use a circular needle – you will be working back and forth – the same as with straight needles – but the circular can hold so many more stitches than a straight needle will. And you can keep most of the weight in your lap or on the table instead of straining your wrists.

For a washcloth – use a very soft chenille or even a cotton on a medium needle. For a blanket, a warm and fuzzy worsted would be very nice on a large needle. I made one like this with Lion Brand Homespun yarn and my daughter took it to college with her, and home again, and won’t give it up! Her babies liked to sleep in a nest made from the blanket.

cast on 4 stitches.
K2 YO Knit to end of row (2 stitches)
K2 YO knit to end of row (3 stitches) keep repeating until it is as wide as you want the square to be – you have made half.

To go back the other way

K2, YO, K2tog, K2Tog, knit to end – continue this until 4 stitches remain.
Cast off / Bind off 4
