Double Crochet V Stitch

double crochet v stitch
My half double crochet is crooked?

I just started crocheting and am working on a half double crochet blanket. Everything seemed to be going well and then I noticed that my ends are diagonal. It appears that I am losing a stitch each time. I am able to pull the ends where it doesn’t look crooked but obviously, I’m just fooling myself.

At the end of the row, I chain twice, turn, and then start the new row at the second v. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the help.

You mention that it “appears” that you are losing a stitch each time. Have you counted your stitches after you complete each row? There is a very good chance that you are missing the stitch at the end where you chained the previous row. That is a very common mistake. Sounds like you are starting your rows right, but just may not be finishing them right. You could go back to the first few rows and count the stitches and then skip a few and count them. That will tell you right off if that is your problem.
