I’m making granny squares, how to Long Double Crochet???

I made the center loop and 2nd round, now on 3rd round it says to long double crochet. How do I do that???

Normally, when you make a double crochet, you Yarn Over hook, insert your hook into the next stitch, pull up a loop, etc. etc., right?

Well, NOW you’re going to do the same thing! Don’t worry about it. This is what the pattern says:

Rnd 3 Sc in same dc, *ch 2, Ldc over next sc in sc of Rnd 1, ch 2**, sc in center dc of next 3-dc group*; rep from * to * around, ending at ** on last rep. Join to beg sc; ch 1, turn.

This is what you’re going to do:

Single crochet in the same double crochet, chain 2, Yarn Over Hook, insert your hook in the single crochet that is in Round 1. What you’re doing is SKIPPING the stitch on Round 2 and going down to Round 1. Pull up a stitch, making it almost level with the round your’e one right now.

Yarn Over hook, go through the first two loops like you always do for a double crochet, Yarn Over hook, and go through the last two loops on your hook.

You’ve just made a long double crochet. Don’t sweat it. Just try it out and it will make sense!
