Breastfeeding Tops you can take to the Catwalk
Who says you can’t wear anything stylish while you’re pregnant or nursing? The modern woman knows that pregnancy or nursing a child does not mean that she has to wear sacks or shapeless clothing. Wearing sacks while pregnant can only be pulled off by gorgeous celebrity mums such as Angelina Jolie or Halle Berry, but not if you’re the average type of woman who juggles a job and the family life.
So, if you want to look good during pregnancy or while you are nursing, check out these fashion tips on how you can mix and match those maternity clothes and breastfeeding tops.
1.The most basic breastfeeding and maternity tops can be paired with stylish crocheted cardigans or a print scarf. If your shirt has prints on them, however, make sure that you choose a plain scarf or coat so you would not have that “busy” look. Cropped and open weave cardigans can look good on a pregnant or nursing mum.
2.Mix and match colours wisely. No, that blue vest and orange shirt do not match, so you better put it back inside your closet. A pink shirt and green pants do not look good on a woman also, whether she is pregnant or otherwise. A combination of pink and green only works on the catwalk, not on the crib or dinner table. Match colours that are near each other in the colour wheel.
3.Neutral colours, such as white, gray, black, and brown, would look good on any woman. Black breastfeeding tops and maternity clothes are especially helpful in camouflaging the shape of a swollen belly or accumulated weight post-pregnancy. White maternity tops can cool you down during hot summer months, while gray will match shirts of any colour. Just don’t wear brown trousers with green shirts or black shoes.
4.Maternity and nursing dresses are great during spring and summer. Stay away from sheaths that will emphasize your protruding tummy and go for empire cut dresses with enough space on the tummy area that will accommodate your expanding waistline.
5.You can wear these maternity or nursing clothes even in different occasions. Out on a date with your husband? Then try a V neck red shirt that you can pair with stretchy trousers. Wear a knitted tunic or a turtleneck shirt on your next get-together with friends. Picnics and outings on the beach can be comfortable with dresses or tunics designed especially for pregnancy or nursing.
6.Go for details, but don’t overdo them. One of the best details for mums is the broderie Anglaise which can be seen on skirts and paired with chic breastfeeding tops. Go easy on the ruffles and laces. If you’re a minimalist, look for clothes with classic designs but those that will enhance your femininity.
Keep in mind that you don’t have a responsibility to look frumpy just because you’re pregnant or you’ve just given birth. You can mix and match maternity tops and other maternity clothes to suit your own style.
