Crochet Help Needed?
I actually have two questions…
1. I found a pattern on lionbrandyarn.com and it says with yarn A tie a knot around the hanger. then you are to single crochet around the hanger. Without a foundatation chain, how are you supposed to single crochet? There is not anywhere to put your hook in at?
Here are the instructions from their website:
Candy Cane Coat Hanger
Knot A onto hanger. At the base of the hanger hook, single crochet around the hanger all the way until you reach the other side. Fasten yarn. Wrap yarn around the base of the hook to cover it (in a fan shape) and continue to work single crochet up and around the hook. At the tip of the hook, work three chain stitches and single crochet in each chain stitch. Cut yarn leaving a long end and sew the three single crochet stitches around the tip of the hook to cover it. Weave in end.
2.Looking for pattern that crochets around hanger and has vertical chains running from top to bottom saw one done,lady will take orders
Those Peppermint Hangers? You don’t need a chain, think of the hanger wire as the chain, although if it makes you feel more comfortable, you can make a chain the length of the entire circumference of the hanger and work into that. But that said, as long as you are holding your working yarn to one side of the hanger wire and working your hook so that you have a loop around the wire from the other side, this works.
As for the other hanger, I suspect that this one starts by working single crochet around the side edge on one side of the hanger, then from the top edge, sc, chain down to the bottom wire, sc around the bottom wire, sc, chain up to the top wire, sc around the top wire, sc, chain down, working back and forth from one side to the other, ending with working down to the bottom, sc around the other side edge, then sl st in every sc to the neck, sc around the neck and hook, ending with the three sc at the tip of the hook to cover it.
