Another crocheting question?
I am a beginer at crocheting and I am making a hat for a newborn and having some problems. I posted a question last week and thanks to everyone who answered I got off to a good start. My problem now is joining the end of each row to the begining. I have finished the hat and it looks perfect except for where I have joined the rows. It looks like there is a seam running down the back of the hat and it’s very noticable. The pattern I am using says
“Rnds 4-10: Dc in each dc around, joining at the end of each rnd with a sl st, and ch 3.”
I have tried ch 2 instead of ch 3 and that makes it look better but it is still noticable. Are you supposed to be able to see this seam and can I make it look any better? I am making this for a friend as a gift so I would like for it to look nice but this seam just makes it look kind of sloppy. Any suggestions would be appreciated and thanks again to everyone that took the time to answer last week, you really helped me out!
I know what you mean about looking like a seam, it just leaves a wider space between stitches,
Here’s what I have tried:
I chain the 3 to start another row, dc in the same stitch. So now the chain 3 and a dc are in the same stitch, as if you were trying to make an increase.
Continue crocheting all the way around as you normally would.
Now to join, skip the chain 3, sl st into the dc instead. This will close the space without increasing and to me looks nicer.
Hope these directions help. Wish you were sitting next to me I’d just show you. Makes me appreciate all the pattern makers out there.
