How do you knit hats for beginner knitters?
I really want to knit or crochet my christmas gifts this year and one idea that I had was to knit some hats. I went on etsy.com and love all the cute knit hats they had!
I have knit before and I’m not very experienced but I think I catch on pretty easily to patterns. So I was wondering if anyone knew any good websites to refer to? I love those slouchy beanies and want to make some like that. My gifts are for girls in their very early 20′s.

This pattern is called a one-day beret – a very cool slouchy hat that works for everyone. If you have basic knitting knowledge – this will work well for you. The easiest thing for you to do is to get a circular needle about a US size 8 to 11 and worsted (it would say #4) on the label – then go to http://throughtheloops.typepad.com/through_the_loops/2008/01/beret-recipe.html.
You will want to have some stitch markers (little loops, coil less safety pins, rings) to show the increases. You will need to know how to knit in the front and back of a stitch type of increase (go to YouTube) if you don’t, cast on and bind off. All very basic. It’s a very cute design and you can use any yarn that you like, any size needles, etc. It is all up to you!

Someone can help you learn everything you don’t know, how to put up photos of your work in progress, and help you out of hot water where you get there, and pat you on the back when you finish. It is free – and it was very easy for me to find this pattern for an easy, fast, slouchy beanie!
