Can I use a regular crochet hook instead of a speed hook?
I’m making an ear-flap hat for my niece and the pattern says to use a size S speed hook. I’ve been looking all over for a speed hook and can’t find one. I do however have a giant plastic crochet hook from Boyle. Can I use it instead? I think it would be around a size Q.
Probably not a good idea since a Q is 15mm and an S is 19mm or more than 25% larger than the Q.
Lionbrand makes a size S, so you could either order it from them, or possibly find a local supplier who carries Lionbrand hooks who would be willing to special order it for you.
