Crochet Abbreviations And Symbols

Is there a difference between the abbreviations of crochet knots in UK/US?

I learned how to crochet from a French woman who was my neighbor. She gave me a paper with the chain names and stuff but it’s in French. Now I want to crochet but I can’t ask her (she moved out) and I wonder if the abbreviations are the same (they don’t seem to be). If they aren’t, could you please give me a website that shows BOTH THE knots AND pictures symbols) according to the American system so that I can relate one to the other?
sorry, I meant stitches not knots.. I couldn’t remember the word at the moment lol

Yes – there are small differences between the US and UK with crochet stitch names – here is a comparison and some other terms

This page shows stitches, needle and hook size differences, yarn name equivalents, measurements conversions such as yards <=>meters, grams<=>ounces, etc. a yardage estimator – really useful!
