Knitting Pattern Help “Work even”?
Row 1 (RS): blah blah blah
Row 2: Blah blah blah
Work even in pat as established until piece measures blah.
Dec 1 st blah.
Work even until piece measures blah.
With the second “work even” do I:
1) Rep Rows1&2
or
2) Dec 1 st
I think it’s the first one because it tells you how many stitches you should have, but I’m not 100% sure, the pattern is: http://berroco.com/exclusives/aidez/aidez.html and I’m asking about the end of: Establish Pat Sts: Row 2
Thank you for your answer
Ok so I’m starting off with 83 sts (Gauge is 15 sts=4″) which means 22.13″
Dec 1 st each side of next row, then every 6½” twice more – 78 sts (20.8″)
Work even until piece measures 18” from beg, end on WS.
When it says “beg,” does it mean length or width?
After the “18″ from beg, end on WS” it says
Bind off 4 sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 2 sts at beg of the following 2 rows – 66sts.
So the ” 18″ from beg” is referring to length yes?
First work even is alternating rows 1 and 2.
Second work even is repeating the decrease row until you are down to the number of stitches they call for. For example, it should be “work even until xx stitches remain.”
If the decrease row doesn’t have separate instructions, ie if they just say dec 1 st at the beginning of each row, then yes, you continue in the established pattern of rows 1 and 2 but also decreasing as instructed.
