seriously frustrated .. crocheters please help?
okay. i went michael’s yesterday and bought a ball of alpaca yarn distributed by bernat. on the label it said free pattern inside of label. so i thought, great i can make a quick and easy scarf. so i bought the yarn, bought the reccomended needle size , and off i went.
how i am home, trying to interpret these insane instructions and i am getting nowhere. i tried using their website, using other websites, using youtube videos for help.. but nothing is working. here’s the pattern: http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=2580

i am pretty convinced that none of that is right. if someone could please please help me. i’d really like to make this scarf.
okay, i’m an idiot. i just found out that the first words under the instructions “Ch 186.” means to chain 186 things. so i just did that. now i have a long single chain of string.
This scarf needs to be worked lengthwise, rather than wide-ways. The first thing you will do is make a really long chain for the number of stitches it calls for (180ish something) This is your base chain that you will be working into.
They don’t count the base chain as a row.
Turn your work at the end of the base chain and then you will start your first row of stitch. It has you make a single crochet into your base chain, chain three and work a stitch into your base chain. Be sure to skip three stitches in your base chain when you go to work your stitch.
I can’t remember the rest of the pattern from where I looked at it, but that should get you started off much better than what you currently have.
I think the main thing was the pattern not calling the base chain a row.
