Free goth baby knitting patterns?
Does anyone know where I can download free goth patterns to knit for a baby goth?
Or any site that has unusual motifs to knit on a hot and mittens.
Any help would be great, I live in Spain and it is impossible to find anything in the shops…..
This is not a joke, I have a friends who have just had a baby and the parents are goth…..strange to some but not to all. There is an exclusive design website on the net that sells goth stuff for babies so someone must buy them. But I want to make them as a pressie.
Is this soooo hard for people to comprehend? yes, goth, black and other colours. That is what Goth is.
I’ve knit tons of baby clothes and accessories but I’ve never run across a pattern for a baby that’s specifically “goth.” So I did some Internet research and here’s what I’ve come up with:
1. “Goth” can be reflected in color choice, which seems to be black predominating with blood red as an accent color or perhaps purple or poison green.
2. Standard baby clothing will work fine–restrictive collars and things of that sort would be impractical or even dangerous for babies.
3. Most of the infant clothing I found for sale was made “goth” by the print of the fabric or the motto or motif printed on it.
Conclusion: You can use any plain pattern you like. Knit it in black with red trim and you’re good. Or knit any item in black and duplicate-stitch embroider a goth motif that you like, perhaps a purple spider (http://www.thedietdiary.com/blog/lucia/498 ) on the edge of a red web or perhaps white skull (http://www.domiknitrix.com/knittingpatterns/skullpattern.cfm or http://acunningplan.typepad.com/andsheknitstoo/files/skull_scarf.html or http://katydidknits.blogspot.com/2006/06/jack-sparrows-favorite-socks.html).
Most of the knit motif patterns are for adults. Some can be adapted for babies, such as this ankh one: http://vintagestitchorama.blogspot.com/2006/08/ankh-earwarmer.html This skull motif should be easily adaptable: http://vintagestitchorama.blogspot.com/2006/06/it-aint-vintage-now-but-it-will-be-in.html And here’s a skull lace pattern: http://www.knitting-and.com/knitting/patterns/stitches/skully.htm
As for the basic garment on which to do magic, good sources of simple patterns include Lion Brand Yarn (http://cache.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/patternFinder.fcgi?search=Search&store=%2Fstores%2Feyarn&resultPageTemplate=ResultPage.html&resultItemTemplate=ResultItem.txt&noResultPageTemplate=NoResultPage.html&case=no&primaryServer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.lionbrand.com&minPrice=0&noBoolean=1&searchText=free+knit+baby&Go.x=20&Go.y=15&sT=1 ) and Knitting Pattern Central (http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/directory/baby.php ).
