CBI to investigate Shaji Murder Case |

By Staff Reporter G Shaji, Head Constable of A&N Police was killed in the line of duty in March 2008 while intercepting the oil mafia in the act of transferring oil from a vehicle ferry in the dead of night at Chatham jetty. The police had made 16 arrests in all and a massive investigation was launched under the direct supervision of the senior police officer like the superintendent of police, the deputy inspector general etc. Even the Director General of Police had kept a close watch over the investigation since, it was all along alleged that the police officials of junior ranks were hand in glove in the racket. The police had succeeded in resisting bail of the prime accused in the case, according to Taj Hassan, Deputy Inspector General of Police. |

By Govinda Raju Rain, rain; go away Come again, another day Little Johnny wants to play But the rains won't listen to any amount of prayers, entreaties requests, vows or offers of candles, oil lamps or incense sticks little Johnny or old John make. As against 2007 that had proved a year of near-drought condition, the year 2008 has proved a year of rains -plenty of it. Mother Nature has been too generous and kind to make good the short supply of water that the people suffered last year. Alas! She doesn't know we have just laid the foundation stones. Hunuz, Dilli door ast when we would be able to hold her bounty to serve us in the rainy days! Her bounty still runs off into the sea around. |
